  3. Get into action to fix those areas of growth.

It’s pretty simple right? 3 things you need to know in order to be an effective manager. Let’s look at these in more detail.

Number 1-  you need to know who you are and what you stand for. Because if you don’t, you will be continually swept along with the currents, trying to please everybody and generally sitting on the fence.

No one will have any confidence in you and the decisions that you make. So make sure you spend some time understanding who you are, what do you want to give, what legacy do you want to leave? What do you want other people to say about you, your management and leadership when you’re not around? What do you stand for? What are your values?

And from this, you’ll understand who you  are as a leader.

When you’ve done this work, you need to go and seek some feedback about your areas of growth. STart  to uncover your blind spots and understand what your strengths are. Now, no one will come out and tell you this straight away, you need to take charge and go and ask for this type of feedback. You can use surveys, profiles, 360° reports to help you uncover these blind spots.

And when you know these areas that you need to work on, you can move into number 3 – getting into action. Moving through this growth using a step by step process. Then you will become a more effective manager. Find out more about our leadership and management programs here.
